Independent expands with neighbouring property takeover

Independent furniture retailer Scotts Furnishings has earmarked plans to expand after acquiring the property next door to its store.

Situated on Victoria Street in Burnham-On-Sea, the retailer has purchased a neighbouring property to expand its range of products on display.

It marks a return of the property under the Scotts name as the business originally acquired the premises back in 1983 when the retailer moved in to its current location. However, the property next door was sold due not needing the extra space back then.

Owner Steve Scott said that decision was a “regret” as the business has grown over the years and he has actually tried to repurchase the property on a number of occasions.

Some 41 years later, Scotts plans to use the extra space to showcase more furniture and beds following a refurbishment of the property.
