Long-standing independent to close after over 50 years

Independent furniture retailer David Phipp House Furnisher has announced plans to close after more than 50 years of trading.

Situated on Ringwood Road in Ferndown, Dorset, the retailer first opened back in 1972 and has made the decision to cease trading at the end of September 2024.

Commenting on the closure, the company said: “It is with great sadness to formally announce the retirement and subsequent closure of David Phipp House Furnisher.

“The decision has not been taken lightly and after much deliberation due to David suffering a recent bout of ill health, we as a family regretfully have decided that it is time to finally close our doors on 30th September after 52 years.

“Since opening in 1972, we have greatly valued the support of our customers and local community.  None of this would have been possible without the loyal custom and incredible dedication of our staff.”
