New online Far East furniture business launches in UK

A new online furniture business has launched aiming to supply the UK with products from the Far East.

Matahari Interiors, a family business run by Omar Sheikh, who is based at its new Wilmslow office, and his wife’s cousin Jeremy Skelchy, who looks after sourcing from Kuala Lumpur, has now gone live with its website, www.matahariinteriors.co.uk.

The business designs and sources products from manufacturers in Malaysia, Indonesia and northern China.

The name Matahari comes from the Malay word “Sun”. This is its inspiration behind the vision to bring “brightness, warmth and a pop of colour to your space”.

The company said: “We are a family run business based in both the UK and Malaysia, with in-depth knowledge and close relations with manufacturers in the far east.

“We source direct from the producers and visit each one in person to ensure the highest quality materials, finishes and the best prices. This also allows us to customise your product to any bespoke requirements you may need.

“At Matahari Interiors we believe that the best materials, craftsmanship and exclusivity should not be limited to those paying a high premium, and rather obtainable by all.

“Using our experience in business and project management, and by streamlining our operations through meticulously hand selecting pieces direct from manufacturers, our collection contains items that are authentic, unique and not out of reach.”

To celebrate the launch, the company is offering a 20% discount for the remainder of the year.
